Q:~ DO I HAVE TO BE A MECHANIC TO BUILD
A BEAUFORD?
A:~Very few Beauford builders are mechanics. Common sense
and the ability to use some tools are all that is needed.
And you need never feel that you are on your own. We can
help with advice and put you in touch with others who
can help you when required. To make build-up easier we
can also fit your suspension, engine and gearbox for less
than the cost of five gallons of petrol. If you don't
have the time yourself, we can assemble all body panels
for you, and this option is detailed in the price list.
We also have two Beauford approved companies who can build
a complete Beauford to our own exacting standards.
Q:~ IS IT AFFORDABLE?
A:~ Because the Beauford is a self-build, component car,
it offers excellent value for money. For less than the
price of a modest saloon you can have a truly individual
car that offers the best of both worlds - thirties style
and modern mechanical efficiency. We offer starter kits
to help spread the cost and also low-cost finance packages
are available if you wish.* Insurance rates are surprisingly
low through specialist brokers we can recommend. ~ Take
a look at our price list which will give you details of
the kits and options available. We will happily give you
further information or put you in touch with existing
owners. The Beauford is the largest and finest car of
its type and has a high second-hand value should you ever
choose to sell it. ~ Although the Beauford is a kit-car,
highest quality manufacturing and design make it hard
for many to guess at its origins.
Q:~ WHAT ENGINES CAN BE USED?
A:~ A wide range of engines can be fitted in the Beauford
Tourer with either automatic or manual gearboxes. Engines
fitted to date have included 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, V6
and V8’s – in a range of capacities from 1.6
to 4.2 litres. The user can choose the engine that best
suits their needs and budget. And with an appropriate
engine the Beauford makes an ideal towing car because
of its long wheelbase. ~ A full list of engines used to
date is given in the specification section of this site.
Whatever engine you choose we will fit the appropriate
engine mounts and supply any special brackets required.
